I haven't posted in here for a while mostly because I am neither a pre-med or a pilot right now. I am currently a pharmaceutical chemist earning money for my next big adventure. I still haven't quite figured out what that's going to be. The applications for medical schools start basically next week and I still have a few things to do before them. I think I am definitely going to apply, but I'm still a little ambivalent about going...which is scary.
I have been thinking about flying a lot lately. I've been trying to figure out a way to get back into it, but unfortunately, it's such an expensive hobby that its kinda hard to justify just doing it without some kind of final goal in mind. Still, I am also teaching some classes right now and the company that I teach for needs me to teach in another city that is about a two hour drive, but only a 45 minute flight. I was thinking about getting my ratings current again and going out and flying down to the city to teach. The money I earn as a teacher would offset most of the flying costs and I think it would be a fun way to get back into it. Who knows, if I realize that I love it so much more than this job, maybe I'll go all the way to my flight instructor.
I have also been thinking about getting into paragliding. This is another expensive sport, but I might be able to justify it with my current income, but if I switch to flight instructor there's no way. The thing that scares me the most is that this is the stuff I really think about instead of trying to be better at my job or focus a lot of effort into getting into medical school.
